There are many ways to click MASSIVEGOOD.
On March 2, 2010, two international pop stars squeezed into a small studio space in downtown Manhattan to brainstorm about how to launch our fundraising slogan – click to give $2 for a healthier world – with a musical flare.
In record time, Will.i.am, of Black Eyed Peas fame, and Yvonne Chaka Chaka, one of South Africa’s most revered singers, decided that the best way to encourage people to click MASSIVEGOOD would be to, well, click.
And click they did.
With impeccable timing and oblivious of the numerous paparazzi in the tiny studio, Yvonne Chaka Chaka stepped in front of the mic and belted out a traditional wedding song in her native Xhosa tongue. Popularized by Myriam Makembe, this tune is also known as the “click song,” with its many guttural clicks common in South African languages and dialects. (click here for a Xhosa click)
Will.i.am, in the sound engineer’s seat for this gig, carefully mixed the song with beats he laid out with French DJ David Guetta. In less than 20 minutes, these two artists had laid the groove down for our movement’s anthem. With a melody almost as a simple and alluring as a lullaby, we can only imagine what will happen once will.i.am and Guetta’s beats are mastered and released. Have a look at a sneak peak vid here.

As these two artists were hard at work, a killer party raged outside the tiny recording room, thrown by New York’s reining Reality Show Queen Kelly Cutrone. At this “MASSIVEGOOD Studio,” New York’s social media gurus gathered to celebrate the imminent March 4th launch of MASSIVEGOOD at the United Nations with none other than President Bill Clinton. Guests also got a preview of our new Spike Lee film “Masterpieces.”
Will.i.am, David Guetta and Yvonne Chaka Chaka have all pledged their support to MASSIVEGOOD. See their support vids here:
