7th Erasme-Descartes Conference
November 11-12, 2009 in Amsterdam
The Millennium Foundation will participate to the 7th Erasme-Descartes Conference to be held in Amsterdam from 11 to 12 November 2009 by the French Embassy.
Erasme-Descartes Conferences are organized since 2003 both by the French and Dutch Foreign Offices. Their aim is to stimulate intercultural dialogue between civil societies of both countries.
The theme of this seventh conference is "Public action for development: from aid to cooperation".
Three workshops are organised in the morning:
- Economics in crisis: consequences and opportunities for developing countries
- Public common goods: towards a sustainable development
- Local governance: human rights, security systems, reforms, fragile states
In the afternoon, a round table is held on public-private partnerships, with:
- Joaquin Munoz, head of Max Havelaar France
- Henri de Reboul, executive officer of IMS - Entreprendre pour la Cité
- Koos Richelle, head of EuropAid
- Rob van Tulder, professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam
