The Millennium Foundation will participate to the Global Responsibilities for Global Health Conference to be held in Brussels from 19-21 October 2009, by the Helene De Beir Foundation.
“Given the scale and scope of the current crisis, protecting and realising the right to health of all people has never been more challenging or more important. How can the world achieve this goal?” is the key question that will be addressed during this event. “Only innovative thinking and action can help to launch a global initiative to redesign the global health architecture so as to protect the health of the world’s most vulnerable”.
The international 3 days conference will bring together leading global public health specialists and practitioners. The conference should provide key elements on how to shift from concept to practice for a global responsibility for Global Health. For Dr Gorik Ooms, organizer of the conference: “A move towards global responsibilities for global health would consider normal for the people in high-income countries to share very little part of their income with people in poor countries to ensure that their basic health rights are met”.
The MASSIVEGOOD global solidarity movement totally fits into this position has it will enable to raise awareness for a global responsibility for the health of all people. MASSIVEGOOD and its Voluntary Solidarity Contribution on travel products will help putting the concept of global responsibility for Global Health into practice.
